Get Set for Success

Get Set for Success

As we move into the final quarter of the calendar year, there is often a flurry of activity to ensure we “get it all done” before the end of the year.

So how do you set yourself up for success so that you can finish the year on a high? Here are some tips to help you:

Remember – there is a finite amount of time between now and the end of the year
The year is not over yet and we can achieve a lot but you need to get real about the time that you have. Consider when you want to finish up for the year, public holidays, Christmas parties, kids end of year stuff and the fact that they will be on holidays in December. All of this will impact the time you have to act on your plans.

Be realistic with your goal setting
It’s better to have fewer big goals and achieve them rather than trying to overhaul your entire business in under 12 weeks! In saying that, there is still time to have an impact – just choose your focus wisely and stay the course. You don’t need to run yourself into the ground getting to the end of the year – the world will not end on December 31st. You can park things for next year.

Check and measure
You can take time to set goals and make plans but if you aren’t regularly checking and measuring throughout the quarter, how can you know if you are doing well? Schedule time to check in with your plans. I do this every Friday morning as part of my Wrap up of the Week. I check everything, sales, leads, revenue, expenses, other metrics and I adjust my actions for the week ahead accordingly.

Accountability
Not everyone is intrinsically self motivated. I look at the most successful, self-motivated people I know and even they have some kind of accountability to keep them on track and on task. I am this person to my clients – as their Wing Woman I work alongside them to ensure that they are doing all the things that they need to be doing to reach their goals. I keep their focus, harnessing that beautiful entrepreneurial spirit so they can grow their businesses and live the life of their dreams. My mission is to ensure that no one I work with limps to the end of 2021 a strung out mess.

Celebrate success
Reaching the end goal is always worth celebrating but you have to enjoy the process and I am all about marking the mini-milestones along the way.
Every new client, every new enquiry, every time your email list climbs another 10 people… All of this cumulative effort leads to big achievements so acknowledge these.
Journaling, Ta Dah lists, however you choose to keep track – it’s easy to forget. If we don’t hit a big, big goal it can feel like it’s all for nothing. But when we look closely, we see that in fact they are so much further ahead than when we started. So celebrate that.

Which of these tips are you going to integrate into your life? I would LOVE to hear your feedback.
